The Spectrum Thrift Store, located at 107 West Broadway in Decorah, has expanded its retail space operation. The store, that opened last May, has added an additional 370 square feet to the original 1500 square foot space.
Thrift Store Manager Jana Masters said that they didn't really have a chance to open the additional space with much fanfare. Customers were anxiously looking in at the new space and waiting to get in, so Spectrum opened up the new space last Monday.
The Spectrum Thrift Store is part of the The Spectrum Network, an organization that works to increase the independence of adults with disabilities, mental illness and other special needs. Spectrum operates another thrift store in Cresco.
The money generated from sales at both stores helps fund various Spectrum programs. Executive Director Deb Schott especially noted transportation funding for clients as an ongoing need.
Spectrum currently serves about 125 clients in Decorah and Cresco.
