There's a new look at the Farmers Win Co-op building on Highway 52 near Burr Oak. A number of new fuel pumps have been installed that now offer a vareity of fuel blends--making the Co-op the first facility in Winneshiek County to have such a service.
Farmers Win Coop Petroleum Manager Jim Erickson tells decorahnews.com "We're excited to be able to offer it."
Some of the pumps now are offering a choice between #2 diesel and #1 diesel for winter needs. In the summertime they will be offering a variety of diesel blends, from 5 percent to 50 percent.
Other pumps are offering a choice of super unleaded with a variety of ethanol blends, ranging from E-10, E-15 and E-30 all the way to E-85.
Erickson says the Farmers Win Co-op facility in Fredericksburg installed similar pumps about a year and a half ago. He says gas sales have increased 20 percent since the new pumps were installed. Grain truck drivers and pick-up drivers have appreciated the range of options, but Erickson says regular motorists have also been enthusiastic.
Erickson says the response has been so strong to the new blended pumps that Farmers Win Co-op is planning to install similar pumps at its facility in Hawkeye in 2015.
