Kiplinger's Magazine will publish its "Top 100 Liberal Arts Schools" list in its February 2015 issue, which will go on sale January 6th.
However, the publication has issued just the list on-line. That list puts Luther College at 81st on the top 100. The personal finance magazine poll lists 100 liberal arts colleges that "deliver a high quality education at an affordable price." The colleges were picked because of small class sizes, good freshman retention rates and a high four-year graduation rate.
Lawrence University ranked 71st, Cornell College ranked 67th, Knox College ranked 62nd and Beloit College was 59th on the list. Gustavus Adolphus College was 42nd and St. Olaf College was 36th.
The top Midwestern schools on the rankings were Carleton College, at 22nd; Grinnell College, at 18th; and Macalester College, at 16th. Swarthmore College in Massachusetts topped the list.
