Winneshiek County Sheriff Lee Bohr has announced his plans to retire as of March 31st of next year.
Bohr submitted a letter of resignation Monday to Winneshiek County supervisors. Supervisors can appoint someone to fill the unexpired portion of Bohr's term, or they can call for a special election.
Bohr joined the Decorah Police Department in 1985. In 1993 he moved to the Sheriff's Department. He became Sheriff in 2002, succeeding Floyd Ashbacher. He has served as Sheriff for the past 12 years.
