Sheriff's Department seeking information about car found submerged in the Upper Iowa River

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department is investigating the details of a car that was found Thursday partially submerged in the Upper Iowa River.

Sheriff's deputies, members of the Decorah Fire Department, Winneshiek County Ambulance and First Responders all were called to the scene.  They found that the vehicle unoccupied, still had its headlights on, with no keys in the ignition and the shifter in park.

Police found indications the car--a black 2001 Hyundai Sante Fe--belonged to Luther College student Brandon Marino from London, Canada--who had recently reported it stolen.

Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies are asking the public to contact them with any information about the car--either when it was parked in the 500 block of North Street in Decorah, or when it was driven along River Road on Thursday night.

Police say their investigation is continuing.
