"Taste of Winneshiek" will highlight the area's businesses

Decorah has a growing food scene.  In February, it will also have an event celebrating local food, wine, beer and coffee vendors.

The first annual "Taste of Winneshiek County" will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 6th, in downtown Decorah.  Up to 250 people will be able to buy a ticket to the event.  They will receive a Tasting Guide and map, an event wrstband and a free glass.

Participants will visit any of 17 retailers in downtown Decorah.  At each location there will be food from local restaurants and beverages from wineries, breweries or coffee shops.

Tickets have now gone on sale at a page on www.eventbrite.com.  Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

Winneshiek County Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Charlene Selbee says her organization is hoping the event will help "create Decorah as a winter destination."
