City council agrees to first step for Dry Run Trail

The Decorah City Council has approved the first step towards construction of the Dry Run Trail.

Council members approved the construction, operation and maintenance of a box culvert underpass at Highway 52 that will give access to the Dry Run Trail from the Trout Run Trail.  State funds for the design and construction of the project have been awarded to the Winneshiek County Conservation Board.

The agreement between the City of Decorah and the County Conservation Board would give the city the right to administer and expend the state money for the culvert project.  However, the City of Decorah will own the culvert after construction is completed.
