Gemini Incorporated has begun a building project to expand its Decorah manufacturing space by 20,000 square feet.
The expansion will allow the company to increase the capacity of the flat-cut metals operation in Decorah. It comes on the heels of a 13,000 square-foot expansion in 2007 and a new 30,000 square-foot cast plaque foundry in 2009.
When the new expansion project is finished next spring, the Decorah site will have five manufacturing buildings totaling 143,000 square feet in the Freeport Industrial Park located at 1719 Moellers Drive. The new building is the most visible sign of continued growth and success at Gemini's Decorah manufacturing facility.
Decorah Plant Manager Mark Henning said the construction and expansion will soon produce an additional 10 jobs and an additional 40 jobs in 5-6 years. Henning noted, "The quality of the labor pool in and around the Decorah area was definitely a factor in our decision to expand here. We're excited about the high-tech production systems we have put in place over the past few years, including robots, lasers, and precision casting equipment– and feel fortunate to be able to provide high quality employment opportunities to the people in the local community."
