12 area gymnasts heading to state meet this weekend

12 area gymnasts from Dolphin Gymnastics II are heading to the Des Moines area this weekend for the Iowa Gymnastics State Championships.

Gymnasts at the Junior Olympic level need to earn at least 31 out of 40 points combined on the four gymnastics events--beam, bars, vault and floor--to qualify for the state meet.

The meet will take place in Clive Friday through Sunday.
