On Monday night, the Decorah Community School Board heard an update on the long anticipated 1:1 technology program.
Grades 6-8 were part of the pilot program in the Middle School last year. The 8th grade students have had MacBook Airs (from last year's pilot program) since the beginning of the year. MacBooks will be distributed to the remainder of the Middle School over the next week-and-a-half. The elementary students will be getting iPads one grade at a time. The high School rollout of MacBook Airs will happen on January 12.
An important part of the implementation will be communication with parents, to include information about responsibilities and digital citizenship. Information will also include You Tube videos. Forthcoming posts on the Decorah Community Schools website (http://www.decorah.k12.ia.us/ ) will be building/grade specific.
