Posted: Tue, Dec 2, 2014 4:38 PM

The City of Decorah is reminding all property owners that they are responsible for promptly removing snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their property.

City ordinances all the city to remove snow and ice if the property owner does not--and then bill the property owner for all labor costs and administrative fees associated with the task.

Also, City of Decorah officials are encouraging residents to report unshoveled sidewalks by calling the City Clerk's Office at (563) 382-36521 or e-mailing hemesath@decorahia.org

City ordinances require all vehicles to park on the EVEN NUMBERED side of the street until snow is cleared from the opposite side, then move to the ODD NUMBERED side of the street until the snow is cleared from the remaining half.  When both sides have been plowed, normal parking resumes.  Snow removal parking regulations take the place of ALL posted parking restrictions.  Vehicles interfering with snow removal procedues can be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense..
