City of Decorah receives safety award for 5th straight year

The Iowa Municipalities Workers' Compensation Association has recognized the performance of the City of Decorah for the 5th straight year.

IMWCA representative Dean Schrade Monday night presented a check for $1,000 to the City of Decorah in recognition of the efforts of city employees to practice safety by using best practices and policy implementation.

The organization's award is in recognition of the low number of workers compensation claims filed by the city.

The money given to the city by IMWCA will be used to pay for subscriptions to safety tips newsletters and to subsidize part of the costs of wellness testing for city employees.
