Decorah Middle School teams do well at Lego competition

Decorah Middle School students did well Saturday at the FIRST LEGO League Regional Qualifier Competition in Elkader.

The Decorah MIddle School "Storm Minders" team of Alice Laybourn, Daniel Schwartzhoff, Ryan Schneberger and Solomon Thompson was named First Runner-Up for the Champion's Award, qualifying them for the state competition in Ames on January 17th.

The "Super EV10" team of Isaac Cooper, Dylan Elsbernd, Karter Einck, Caleb Huebner, Cole Huebner, Anya Lovstuen, Margaret Rhodes, Larsson Shockey, Hogan Smith and Kassidy Steines was awarded both the Project Award and the Robot Game Award.

The "Ev3lution" team of Owen Burgdorf-Hibbs, Hayden Carlson, Cameron DeLong, Beirgen Gunhus-Dansdill, Jared Holthaus, Evie Holyoake and Sawyer VanDenbrink was awarded the Core Values Award.

"Storm Minders" and "Ev3lution" were coached by Steve Larson.  "Super EV10" was coached by Allysen Lovstuen and Todd Smith.

21 Decorah Middle School students attended the qualifier.
