Volunteers have been a big part of keeping Decorah's Prairie Butterfly Garden in shape during 2014.

Volunteer Coordinator Jerri Osenga says volunteers worked almost every Monday morning for two hours.  They did tasks like digging out unwanted plants, transplanting desirable plants into the garden, watering, weeding and collecting seeds.

Osenga says in all there were 193 hours of volunteer work.  City Parks & Recreation Director Andy Nimrod says the volunteer work was crucial in keeping the butterfly garden in great shape.
