County Health Department to hold extended hours Thursday for flu shots

The Winneshiek County Public Health Department normally handles flu shots from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays on a walk-in basis at their offices on Montgomery Street.  On Thursday the Public Health Department will give flu vaccinations until 6:00 p.m.

Winneshiek County Public Health officials say It's not too late to get your children vaccinated for this year's flu season.  They note that it is recommended that everyone six months of age and older get a seasonal flu vaccine.

For those children up to age 8 who have never received a flu vaccination, they are required to get 2 vaccines one month apart the first year. After that, one flu vaccine per year is enough.
