The College Board has named Decorah High School/Decorah Community School District as one of 547 school districts in the U.S. and Canada to the 5th Annual AP Honor Roll.
The Decorah Community School District is being recognized for increasing access to AP courses while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning a score of three or higher on AP Exams. Inclusion on the 5th Annual AP District Honor Roll is based on the examination of three years of AP data, from 2012 to 2014, looking across 34 AP Exams, including world language and culture.
Said Principal Kim Sheppard, "I am very proud of our students' achievement and the work of our teachers as they strive to challenge Decorah High students on a daily basis." Sheppard particularly mentionned AP teachers Nicole Cody, Tim Hayes, Elizabeth Lorentzen, Allysen Lovstuen, Mark Rhodes, and Stephanie Steines, who she said have worked diligently to help more students build their confidence, learn at a higher level, and earn credits for college.
Continued Sheppard, "We are very aware that this achievement would not be possible without the solid education foundation that has been put in place by all the teachers and staff members who have previously worked with our students. It is also important to thank our students' parents and the members of the Board of Education for their support as well as the entire Decorah community. Our success would not be possible without the efforts and support of everyone."
