This has been a bad fall for car-deer accidents. Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies earlier this month said they had responded to over 50 such accidents.
But an accident Thursday afternoon on Highway 9 in Decorah could have been called a "car-deer-car accident."
Decorah Police report a deer ran out onto the highway in front of a car driven by 35-year-old Jacklyn McCartney of Lansing. She could not stop in time to avoid the deer. Her car ran over the deer, but also sent it into the opposing lane of traffic--where it was hit by a car driven by 84-year-old Anita Imoehl of Decorah.
The accident caused a total of $2,500 in damages
