Looking for a home, East Side School bricks are ready to be moved

Posted: Tue, Nov 11, 2014 3:50 PM

Bricks and other masonry materials from East Side School now stored on the Luther College Farm will be moved soon to a new location, thanks to volunteer work by Girl Scouts of Decorah and Waukon.

Three leaders--Jessie Waters, Colleen Moore, and Lydia Debes--brought girls to help with the re-stacking of bricks.  Members of the Luther College men's cross country team have also helped.

Now the question is where the bricks will find a home, since the Oneota Historic Future Association has not yet been able to find a new storage location.

Reusable bricks, Kasota Stone, native Platteville limestone, and dimensional lumber reclaimed from the 110 year old East Side School are for sale.  Tours for seeing the masonry materials or the dimensional lumber for reuse may be arranged by calling Deborah Bishop, 563-379-6079 or Sean Devine-Meyer, 563-379-9878.
