The elections of township trustees traditionally don't attract a lot of interest in Winneshiek County. So Winneshiek County supervisors were called on MOnday to break election ties involving candidates who received only a few votes last Tuesday, but tied in their races.
In Bluffton Township, two candidates received just two votes apiece. Supervisors drew Randy Logsdon's name out of a hat (well, actually, out of a coffee cup) and Logsdon will serve as a township trustee.
Richard Janecheck did a little better--he received four votes in Burr Oak Township, then had his name drawn to break a tie.
The election of Military Township trustees was a little more complicated. Kyle Quass was the biggest vote getter on Tuesday--despite having died two weeks ago. Mark Knudson and Kevin Quass each received five votes, with supervisors selecting Quass' name. But Knudson will be eligible to be chosen by township officials to fill Kyle Quass' spot on the Board of Trustees.
