Sheriff's Department issues report on October 24th traffic accident

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office has completed its investigation into a two vehicle accident that occurred at 7:40 a.m. Friday, October 24th, at the intersection of Locust and Canoe Ridge Roads.

The report says Florence Mary Olson had stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Locust Road and Canoe Ridge Road, made a left turn onto the Locust Road and ran into Devin Gary Stortz who was traveling southbond on Locust Road.

Both Stortz's 2004 GMC Yukon and Olson's 2006 P.T. Cruiser received heavy damage.  Both drivers were transported to the Winneshiek Medical Center by the Winneshiek County Ambulance Service.

Olson was charged with failure to yield from a stop sign.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Decorah Fire Department, Decorah Police Department, and Winneshiek County First Responders.
