There will not be a vote recount in the Iowa House District 55 race.

Democratic candidate Rick Edwards, who trailed Republican Darrel Branhagen by 31 votes out of 12,000 votes cast, released the following statement Friday:

"I congratulate Darrell Branhagen on winning election to the Iowa House of Representatives.  Over the last seven months I have enjoyed meeting hundreds of citizens and discussing the strengths and challenges facing our State.  I thank my supporters in House District 55 and I thank my family for their wonderful efforts.  I wish Darrell success in the House as the new Session begins in January."

In response, Branhagen issued this statement:

""I received a very gracious call from Rick Edwards this morning, and I commend both he and his family for conducting a hard fought but professional and dignified campaign.  I would like to thank all voters that exercised their civic responsibilities in this election, and supported their candidates so well.  I will work to represent in the Iowa legislature all the people in the district to the best of my ability."
