October was wetter, slightly cooler than normal in Decorah

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says Decorah received 4.12 inches of rain during October.  That was 1.85 inches more than average, making October 2014 wetter than all but 10 of the 119 Octobers for which precipitation figures have been kept.

Bernatz says two days--Ocxtober 3rd and October 14th--both had over one inch of precipitation, with 1.63 inches of rain fallihg on the 14th.

Temperatures during October averaged 49.7 degrees in Decorah.  That was 0.6 degrees cooler than normal, placing October of 2014 as 74th warmest out of the 119 years of weather statistic keeping.

For the past 12 months, eight months have been cooler than average and seven months have been wetter than average.
