Letter to the Editor: Republicans want private ownership of public lands

(Steve Matter of Decorah has submitted this Letter to the Editor):

"Excerpted from the most recent Republican Platform, published by the Republican National Committee:

"..... Congress should reconsider whether parts of the federal governments enormous land holdings and control of water in the West could be better used for ranching, mining, or forestry through private ownership." 

Such bitter irony. The Republican Party attempts to frighten hunters about having their guns taken yet  their goal is private ownership of our public lands.  Goodbye open access and free hunting.
