Rev. April Ulring Larson will become the interim pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She will serve until a permanent pastor is installed.
A welcome soup luncheon for Rev. Larson is planned after the Sunday service on November 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
A native of Decorah, Rev. Larson has deep roots in the community. She attended Luther College for two years, and then transferred to the University of Iowa where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. She served on the Board of Regents of Luther College for 16 years and has received an honorary doctorate from Luther. She and her husband, Luther grad Rev. Judd Larson, are the parents of three children, all Luther graduates. Their twin daughters, Katie and Amy, are both physicians. Their son, Benjamin, died in the Haiti earthquake in his last year of seminary.
Rev. Larson has been in ordained ministry for 36 years. She recently retired after serving as senior pastor of First Lutheran Church in Duluth.
