The work of Seed Savers Exchange's apple orchard manager, Dan Bussey, has been profiled in the New York Times.

The article, which can be read here, was keyed to the upcoming publication in January of an almost 3,000-page encyclopedia called "The Illustrated History of Apples in North America."

The newspaper describes how Bussey started collecting information about rare and unique apple varieties--a project that has grown over three decades to the point that he now has a list of over 17,000 apple varieties.
