Iowa House Democrats filed a formal complaint with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board on Wednesday, charging Republican Darrel Branhagen's campaign violated state law when it failed to properly report over $100,000 in campaign contributions and expenditures.
At issue are television ads aired on Cedar Rapids and Waterloo TV stations. The complaint filed by Democrats accuses Branhagen of failing to report any expenditures associated with these TV ads.
The Iowa Campaign Finance report filed by the Branhagen campaign on Monday failed to report any expenditures associated with the TV ads or the contributions necessary to pay for the ads.
UPDATE: Branhagen tells decorahnews.com "I have disclosed all the information given to me by the Republican Party of Iowa on my past disclosure reports. Last night I received an additional in-kind statement from the RPI and my disclosure report was amended to reflect the additional information given."
