Luther College presents 2014 Carlo Sperati Award to Willard Linnevold

Willard Linnevold of Decorah has received the 2014 Dr. Carlo A. Sperati Award from Luther College for his work as an outstanding educator and conductor.

Linnevold began his career in public school education, teaching mathematics, choir and band at Hayes Consolidated Schools, near Storm Lake.  He also taught in Laurens, where he formed a band and choir. He moved back to Decorah in 1945, was active in the Decorah Community Concerts Association and became active in the choir at First Lutheran Church, directing two of the church choirs.

Willard and Vonnie Linnevold have given 318 scholarships to music students at Luther College.
