Luther College has presented the 2014 Weston Noble Choral Award to James Johnson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for distinguished achievement in the fields of teaching and conducting.
 
Johnson began his choral music teaching career at Austin High School in Minnesota, and  also taught at Albert Lea High School and Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School.  After receiving a PhD. from the University of Illinois he taught at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota, at Boston University and then at Augustana in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
