Amy Hillesland and Andrew Chatfield were looking for something special to mark their wedding day.
Andrew had suggested the couple get married on the Fourth of July—so there would be fireworks every year on their anniversary. Instead, they agreed on an even more special display—a partial solar eclipse.
Thursday afternoon the solar eclipse should be viewable in Decorah, so they are having their wedding ceremony on a lookout point at Palisades Park—with a view of the partial solar eclipse. Amy tells decorahnews.com that the setting will help to make the day "extra special."
Although the two live in Floyd, Iowa, they knew the setting in Palisades Park would be perfect—not only because of the view but because Amy is a 2003 Decorah High School and 2007 Luther College graduate. She says holding the wedding in Decorah on Thursday "seems perfect."
