Priscilla e-mails Mr. Answer Person: "Can you do something for us? It should be a item of public record to publish the names of those taking advantage of the tax abatements--the company doing the construction, the cost of the project and the amount of tax lost to us, the taxpayers, in the process."

Mr. Answer Person says: "The Decorah City Council will have to formally approve the tax abatements once a year.  That action will be taken at a city council meeting (The information will include the cost of the project, the amount of property tax abated and the property owner doing the construction, not the contractor)
