NICC officials on Monday announced the community college's first-ever fundraising drive--the NICC "Campaign for Excellence" that will have a goal of raising $10 million for the college.
NICC President Liang Chee Wee says the money will be used to expand services that students need to attend college, such as academic advising, career advising and adult education.
Another part of the funds will be used to train students in skills such as healthcare, STEM, information technology, entrepreneurship and advanced manufacturing--areas that are in high demand in the new global economy.
The final use of the funds will be to support agriculture programs at NICC, especially in paying for the new farming technologies.
NICC Board President Dr. Ken Reimer, in remarks on Monday, said "It is re-affirming when the citizens value the work of NICC."
