Recent events in Ferguson, Missouri have shined a spotlight on the procedures that local police departments follow.

Decorah Human Rights Commission Chairperson Sheila Radford-Hill says such issues may be discussed in Decorah in the future.  She told city council members Monday night that "cultural competency training" may become more of an issue as Decorah becomes more diverse.

Radford-Hill says members of the Human Rights Commission will attend an Iowa Civil Rights Symposium November 14th in Des Moines that will discuss that issue, among others.
