Posted: Mon, Oct 13, 2014 8:11 AM

The Decorah Fire Department was called out Monday morning to the Robert Wedmann home at 1174 Sattre Ridge Road to fight a house fire.

When firefighters arrived shortly after 2:00 a.m., they discovered a fire in the basement area of the home.  Fire had also extended to an upstairs bedroom.

Firefighters contained the fire and then extinguished it.  All occupants of the home were evacuated prior to the Fire Department arrival.

One occupant was transported by Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance for probable smoke inhalation.  No other injuries were reported.

The origin of the fire appears to be in the area of a pellet stove located in the basement of the home.

The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by the Mabel Fire Department, Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance, Winneshiek Co. Sheriff's Department and REC.
