Northeast Iowa should be putting its best fall colors forward this weekend.
The Iowa Department of Forestry says aspens and maples are turning brilliant yellow, and even the oaks show hints of color. Others still display their characteristic yellows, oranges and reds. The sumac and Virginia creeper are deep red, but their foliage is falling. Cottonwood, elm, aspen, hackberry, ash and basswood are turning yellow.
The weekly fall color report says the peak of fall color in the area is taking place now through Saturday.
