Decorah named one of Iowa's Five Safest Cities

A security company, Safe Choice Security, has chosen Decorah as the 5th Safest City in Iowa.

A news release from the company says it used crime statistics from the FBI's census data to make the judgment, with a focus on violent and property crimes.  Decorah reported 0.74 violent crimes per 1,000 people in 2012 and 10.06 property crimes per 1,000 people in 2012.

Jefferson, Iowa was selected as Iowa's safest city.
