During its 2013-2014 fiscal year, Winneshiek Medical Center's revenue were up sharply--but its expenses increased even more.  The hospital was able to show a net gain for the year because of other operating revenues and non-operating revenues, but hospital officials knew they had to work on controlling expenses.

WMC Chief Financial Officer Lynn Luloff says the financial results from the first two months of 2014-2015--July and August--are encouraging.  The hospital showed operating revenues of $8.6 million and operating expenses of $8,291,000.  The hospital ended the two months with a net gain of $406,680.

Luloff says expenses went up just 1.8 percent during the two months--even though total patient revenues were up 12 percent over JUly and Agust of 2013.
