Iowa's community colleges, including Northeast Iowa Community College, have received a $15 million U.S. Department of Labor grant.
The money will be used to build training capacity statewide in the employment sectors of Information Technology, Healthcare, Utilities and Manufacturing.
All 15 community colleges in Iowa will receive a portion of the $15 million. NICC will apply its funding toward training programs in the information technology job sector.
"This grant enables NICC to expand our education and training programs to equip Iowans in our district with sought-after skills to pursue family-sustaining careers and to provide the skilled workforce needed by our industry partners to grow in our communities," NICC President Dr. Wee emphasized.
NICC has utilized funding from two previous Department of Labor grants to expand its training capacity to serve students in high-demand health and advanced manufacturing programs.
