(Becky and Peter Olafsen have submitted this Letter to the Editor):
Like most voters, we are sick of political emails, phone calls, and negative ads. However, we will be even sicker if the wrong candidates are elected locally and across Iowa.
As voters, we need to vote for the right candidates. Bruce Braley, Pat Murphy and Jack Hatch are the right candidates. They are proven legislators with records that support local and Iowa interests and Democratic principles. Rick Edwards, Laura Hubka and Barbara Massman want to join them in supporting progressive values locally, in Iowa, and in Washington.
As citizens, we need to vote to make our representative form of democracy work for us, the people who are represented. VOTE by mail, requesting a form to fill out from Democratic Headquarters in Decorah. VOTE early, at the Winneshiek County Court House. VOTE on Election Day at your designated polling place.
As Iowans, we need to follow the theme of the speakers at retiring Iowa Senator Tom Harkin's steak fry. "Democrats win, if Democrats show up". That means, show up and VOTE!
