2006 Luther College graduate Amy Morey has been awarded the 2014 Monsanto Research Grant Award.

The grant will help fund her research on invasive insect species.  Morey, a Ph.D. candidate in entomology at the University of Minnesota, is working with University of Minnesota professors Rob Venette and Bill Hutchison to study such questions as, What temperatures are too cold (for insects)? How do insects avoid getting cold? Where might cold prevent them from going in the future? Can they adapt?

She is co-teaching an undergraduate course on integrated pest management at the University of Minnesota and is regularly involved with entomological outreach events with local schools, organizations and departmental events.
