Decorah man dies from injuries suffered in a bike accident

Injuries suffered in a bike accident on the Trout Run Trail have claimed the life of former Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Administrative Officer Dan Werner.

Werner was riding his bike on the trail on Thursday afternoon when he passed a pedestrian, lost control of his bike and flew over the handlebars.

Werner was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center, then airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.  On Sunday afternoon he was removed from life support.
