Associate Principal Adam Riley updated the Decorah Community School Board Monday night regarding the ongoing planning and student/staff training for emergency procedures. He talked about definitions of lockdowns and evacuation procedures, response teams, and the related procedures. He also noted the continually evolving practices in dealing with school emergencies such as school intruders.

Although much training and preparation has been done, additional training will occur. Superintendent Haluska and most of the principals will be attending a safety workshop later this fall. Riley said parents will receive a letter with updates later this semester, there will be more staff training, and some practice drills held during second semester. Riley also talked about the excellent working relationship with the Decorah Police Department.
