Ask Mr. Answer Person: "Who or what is Decorah jobs?"

Kevin e-mails: "Who and what is Decorah Jobs INC.?  Are they a public ornonpublic corporation? Profit or non-profit?"

Mr. Answer Person says, "Decorah Jobs, Inc. can be thought of as the City of Decorah's equivalent to Winneshiek County Development.  In other words, the non-profit organization works to "assist in property development to stimulate economic growth" in Decorah--as its federal tax return states.

Speaking of its tax return, it lists organizational assets of $1.2 million.  That's because the group has been best known for developing industrial parks in Decorah.

The organization is controlled by a 14-member board which consists almost entirely of volunteers.  Ben Grimstad is the current president, while Ken Vande Berg is the current vice president.
