The Vernon County Sheriff's Department in Western Wisconsin is reporting that 64-year-old Darwin Melcher of Decorah was injured Saturday in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highways 27 and 82 in Fargo, Wisconsin.

The Vernon County Sheriff's Department reports that 28-year-old Kory Roberts of Stueben, Wisconsin was northbound on Highway 27 when he attempted to turn left onto Highway 82 and collided with a car driven by Melcher.

Roberts sustained a minor leg injury and was treated and released at Vernon Memorial Healthcare. A passenger in the Roberts' vehicle, 31-year-old Shawn Lenzendorf of Gays Mills, Wisconsin was transported to Vernon Memorial Healthcare by private vehicle.  Melcher was transported to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse by Tri-State Ambulance.  No condition report is available for Melcher.

Vernon County Chief Deputy Nathan Campbell said alcohol use by Roberts is suspected as a factor in the crash.  The incident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
