Which major road project will the City of Decorah tackle next? The city's Streets Committee hasn't come up with a final answer to that question yet--but it has made a decision about the 2015-2016 road budget.
Meeting Tuesday night, committee members agreed to delay any new big road construction project to the 2016-2017 fiscal year. That will give city taxpayers a break, since only minor road repair projects will be done during 2015-16.
Committee members are still discussing which major road project to tackle first--Locust Road, College Drive extension or East Main Street. At this point, the majority of the committee favors doing Locust Road first, East Main Street second and the College Drive extension third. But agreeing to do only minor road construction projects during 2015-16 means city officials have more time to study that issue before needing to make a decision.
