Next up for Luther College: Possible remodeling of Main Hall and the Regents Center

Newly-appointed Luther College President Dr. Paula Carlson is already rolling up her sleeves to get to work on future plans for the college.

At her "State of the College" address Thursday, Carlson told the audience studies have already begun of two important buildings on campus--Main Hall and the Regents Center.  Two separate committees have begun the jobs of studying whether improvements are needed to the buildings.

A possible renovation of Main Hall would be especially significant.  The building was completed in 1952, constructed after a fire in 1942 destroyed the previous building.

These days the 62-year-old building houses administrative offices, classrooms and faculty offices.  The building is used by the English, religion, philosophy and modern languages departments.  First year students attend Paideia classes in the building.

Said Dr. Carlson on Thursday, "The time has come to renew both buildings."
