New fishing dock installed at Lake Meyer

The Winneshiek County Conservation Board has installed a new fishing dock at Lake Meyer Park.

The 10 foot long by six-and-a-half foot wide dock is located along the southern shoreline.  It is easily accessible from both the campground and the lakeside hiking trail. A map of the park showing the location of the new dock is available at www.winneshiekwild.com.

The area around the new dock has been and will continue to be targeted with fish habitat improvement projects.

The Conservation Board staff will also be incorporating the dock into their existing educational programming, using the space for fishing clinics and for lessons on the lake's habitat, wildlife, and water quality.  The new dock was funded through support from the Winneshiek County Community Foundation.

"We are excited to be able to offer this new site for fishing," says Conservation Board Director Barbara Schroeder. "The dock will make fishing safer and more easily accessible to children and families using the campground, and it expands the opportunities for outdoor recreation in Winneshiek County."
