The Banned Books Theatre Project performing at the Water Street Park during Banned Books Week 2012

In honor of Banned Books Week September 21st through 27th, Upstart Crow Theatreworks will present an original play entitled "The Banned Books Theatre Project."

Director Kristen Underwood is seeking 7th and 8th graders interested in a fast-paced acting workshop culminating in several performances of a short play during Banned Books Week.

The cast will start by practicing the skills needed to perform "street theatre."  Using theatre games and improvisation, participants will develop a 15-minute play which will be performed at a variety of locations around Decorah. Rehearsals begin after school on September 2nd at ArtHaus and will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for three weeks.  No previous acting experience needed.

Advance registration is required.  There is a $90 tuition for the workshop but scholarships may be available -- please inquire upon registration.  To register, visit www.arthausdecorah.org or email questions to upstartcrowtheatreworks@gmail.com.
