Ithaca College student Faith Meckley stopped in Decorah Monday morning to raise awareness of the "Great Climate March," a 3,000 mile walk across America being organized by Ed Fallon of Des Moines.
Some 300 volunteers are taking time to walk part of the way between Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Meckley told a Decorah audience on Monday that the response to the marchers has been good for the most part, although some have honked horns and shouted at the marchers "Get a job."
Meckley says Iowans seem especially interested in the issue of climate change, since industrialized agriculture has been a big contributor. Meckley, who is planning a career as an environmental journalist, says the walk will culminate November 1st in Washington, D.C.
