Questers groups from the Decorah area selected two Winneshiek County 4-H members to honor for their fair projects, which featured the restoration of vintage and antique furniture. The students were each awarded $50, which they donated to a museum of their choice to be used for restoration or preservation purposes.
The Oneota Questers chose Hailey Nierling as the recipient of a $50 award for her restoration and repurposing of a Jenny Lind headboard and barn wood, which she fashioned into a unique bench.
The Day Spring Questers chose Decorah Middle School fifth grader Carson Wemark as the recipient of the $50 award for creating a bench from a vintage headboard and footboard.
Questers is a non-profit International Organization, which was founded in 1944. Its major objectives are to stimulate an appreciation of antiques and their collection, and to encourage and support grants for the preservation and restoration of existing historical buildings and landmarks locally, statewide and internationally.
