The South Winneshiek FFA has received a $2,000 grant from Farm Credit Services of America to pay for the purchase of a test plot weather station. The weather station will benefit both students and farmers. Students will observe how plants are affected by the elements of sunlight, moisture and air. Those results then will be shared with farmers in nine NE Iowa counties, with an eye toward helping them improve yields.
"We hope to show that some plants can do better in adverse conditions," said South Winneshiek FFA advisor Melissa Brincks.
The South Winneshiek FFA is one of 25 organizations to receive a "Working Here Fund" grant from Farm Credit Services.
